Premium Orchid Bark • Microbe-Enhanced • Excellent Drainage

Orchiata is a premium orchid substrate made from 100% New Zealand Pinus radiata bark, sustainably harvested from renewable plantation forests. The bark is composted using a controlled aging process that reaches temperatures over 150°F—naturally eliminating harmful pathogens.

As the bark cools, beneficial fungi and bacteria (such as Trichoderma and Penicillium) begin to colonize the material. These microbes are naturally present in the environment and thrive in the aged, bark-based substrate. Over time, they enrich the bark with biology that supports healthy root development and offers natural resistance to disease.

During aging, the outer surface of each bark chip is softened, allowing it to hold water and nutrients without sacrificing airflow. The interior remains hard and stable, providing long-lasting structure ideal for larger orchids or species with thicker root systems.

For best results, use in combination with New Zealand Sphagnum Moss to enhance moisture retention while maintaining proper drainage and airflow.
