Heirloom Purple Barley Seed – For Sprouted Seed Milk
Certified Organic • Enzyme-Rich • Grown in Creston, BC
This heirloom purple barley is grown on a certified organic farm in Creston, BC by a family who deeply values land stewardship and soil health. When sprouted, blended, and diluted, barley becomes a powerful enzyme drench that supports vigorous plant growth and revitalizes living soils.
Unlike hormone-rich sprouts like alfalfa, barley is all about enzymes—making it ideal for unlocking nutrients in the soil, stimulating root activity, and boosting flavor, terpene, and oil expression in aromatic herbs and flowers.
🌿 Why Use Sprouted Barley Seed Milk?
-
Contains powerful enzymes (like amylase and protease) that break down organic matter and release locked-up nutrients
-
Encourages explosive root development and stronger early growth
-
Helps increase terpenes, essential oils, and flavors in herbs, flowers, and fruits
-
Supports soil microbial activity and improves nutrient cycling
-
Ideal for use as a natural enzyme drench to improve plant and soil health
🌾 How It Compares to Alfalfa Sprouted Milk
-
Alfalfa (rich in triacontanol) promotes tighter internodal spacing, bushier plants, and more flower sites
-
Barley (enzyme-focused) may promote slightly more elongation due to gibberellins, but dramatically boosts soil function, root mass, and terpene output
-
Use alfalfa for shaping structure, and barley for boosting metabolism and soil biology
“We’ve seen richer flavors, deeper aromas, and visibly stronger plants using barley-based enzyme drenches in our own garden.”
