OYSTER SHELL FLOUR
This flour is made from oyster shell deposits in South San Francisco Bay. Oyster shell flour is an excellent source of natural calcium.
- The calcium carbonate in the oyster shells helps to neutralize acidic soils
- A natural alternative to dolomite lime (mined limestone)
- provides a sustained release of calcium and micronutrients
- A great addition to your soil for leafy greens like spinach and lettuce or brassicas like cabbage and broccoli
- A great addition to compost and worm bins
APPLICATION:
- In the garden: Up to 1-2kg per 10m2 (2-4lbs per 100ft2). Apply up to once per month
- Topdressing: 10-15ml (2-3tsp) per plant, or 5-10ml per 4L (1-2tsp per gal) of soil, once per month. Gently mix into top 5cm (2”) of soil.
- Premixing soil: 30ml per 4L (2 tbsp per gal) of soil. For larger volume soil mixing, add up to 2.5kg (5lbs) per cubic yard of soil
- Reducing Soil Acidity: Based on the results of a soil test, apply 1-7kg per 10m2
